Latest News Inter Blades knocked out 1-0 by Palace at last 16 stage. The lads did brilliantly throughout the tournament and it took a bad penalty decision to end our great run.      The Inter Blades make an excellent start to their WorldNet 2010 campaign, winning all three group games to top the group, four victories also in our friendly matches

Big thanks to the 15 players yesterday and a welcome to Tino (Simon Turner) who I thought had a good debut in the middle of the park. Much to my disappointment the Internet Millers continued to be our "bogey" side, despite us having a strong squad available. We started the brighter and really should have been a few goals up after 20 minutes, but we made the wrong choices in the final third and came up against Stevo in goal who I consider to be one of, if not the best, goalie in the IFA.

The Millers broke away and scored after 20 minutes and that changed the whole complexion of the game. We suddenly forgot how to play a simple pass, lost our shape, and weren't really at our best all over the park for the remainder of the half, the Millers meanwhile were busy and well organsied, but fortunately for us the score remained 1-0 at half time. After a "discussion" at half time we set off back out there to put things right, but we pretty much carried on where we left off and the Millers scored a second goal to make things even more difficult. This finally seemed to spur us into life and within a minute or two of the restart ANDY WOOD worked his way between the two centre backs and fired home from just inside the box.

Just as we seemed to be getting on top the Millers grabbed a third from the penalty spot, but it was disappointing defending that led to the goal. We failed to chase down a Millers forward who'd sprinted to the by-line to keep the ball in and as he played it back in unchallenged, their full back who'd joined the attack was tripped. Even more disappointing was the manner of the 4th Millers goal which came shortly after, we stopped to appeal for a handball by a Millers forward, our keeper saved the first shot but followed in the rebound, had we not stopped to appeal and had played to the whistle then we may have been able to clear the rebound! We do this a lot and it costs us goals, we need to learn that you have to play to the whistle, you can argue about the decision once the ball is away from danger.

We looked to be dead and buried but we piled on the pressure and had now finally got the bit between our teeth, then after a corner was half cleared DREW BROWN hit a stupendous left footed volley from 25 yards which absolutely flew into the top corner, even a keeper as good as Stevo just looked on as it flew over him. Then a few minutes later a break down the left saw TOM McCAIG cut inside from the touchline and curl one into the other top corner from the corner of the box, again a fantastic goal. Unfortunately despite a bit more pressure we hadn't quite left ourselves enough time to draw level, so the Millers get the points and also passage through to the next round of the Yorkshire Cup where they will face Barnsley at home.

Fantastic game as usual, and for us that's 3 defeats to the Millers in succession by the odd goal... gits! ;-) The game was played in a great spirit and we did this all without a proper ref, both Jebu (first half) and a lad that came to watch with Robbie (second half) did fantastic jobs with the whistle (Robbie, pass on my thanks to your mate).

Well done boys, I am dissapointed that we lost as I felt we had it in us today to beat the Millers, but it was a great fightback with some fantastic goals, let's make sure we put things right next Saturday at home to Grimsby.
